Lean manufacturing or lean production is a systematic method for elimination of waste (”Muda“) in production system. This approach is based on TPM methodology, which was developed by Toyota. The aim is to satisfy customer requirements by ensuring quality products in the shortest possible time and with minimal cost. This is achieved by variety of tools and methods (e.g. 5S, SMED, Kanban, lean layout…). Waste elimination is one of the most effective ways to increase the profitability of any company.
MTM is the world most widespread method for measuring of human work by using pre-defined times. MTM values and times are internationally valid and applicable in every industry. The MTM procedures break down work processes into basic motions, necessary to perform the job. Each basic motion has a pre-defined time. The results can be used for planning of processes, as analytical tool for creating workflows and time duration definition. Depending on type of production (piece, serial, mass) we use different subsystems of MTM.

quick screening method for ergonomic risk assessment of workplaces creates in connection with time standardisation methods of MTM a powerful basis for a healthy and efficient production. This method reliably detects any workplace with potential to biomechanical damage of health through the whole body and upper limbs scoring. The tool allows flexible testing of corrective actions and therefore it is used also in the optimization and redesign of the workplaces. (more…)
